My design journey
I graduated from a Chinese university with an optical information technology degree in 2014. Till now, I still have no idea in regards to how to design headlights.
In April 2014, while most of my classmates were pulling their hair to land a job in the optical industry, I got my first official design role in a humble startup based in Wuhan, China. To be honest, I didn't know what I was doing in the early time. What I knew is I have persistence and resilience towards design and anything related to design.
From there, I picked things up really fast by working a bunch of talented engineers and product managers in Geetest and learning from them, and I absolutely enjoyed my time working there.
The end of 2017 is definitely a turning point to my design career and my life. I quitted my job in and flew to π Canberra, Australia alone. I worked as a π² waitress in buffet restaurant for about 4 months. Regardless of how hard the process of finding a professional job in Australia has been, I finally joined NetEngine as a UI slash UX designer π π πΊ
In NetEngine, I'm exposed to various industries and I led a handful of challenging projects. I find myself gaining new skills outside of core design capabilities, for instance, business thinking, communicating skill, project management skill, and leadership etc.
